The New Balance 2002R Protection Pack is Dropping in "Pink" and "Purple"

Ask any New Balance fan about their favourite recent releases, and we’re pretty sure they’ll mention the New Balance 2002R Protection Pack. After its initial introduction during the back end of 2021, the pack has quickly become one of the most popular themed releases going, and as a result more colourways and restocks appeared over the months that followed. Now, two more iterations have hit the net, dressed in colourful shades of pink and purple.

While early versions of the pack opted for muted tones, the Boston-based brand is starting to capitalise on the 2002R’s momentum and is now pushing the boundaries when it comes to colour. Gone are the grey, khaki and navy shades that dominated early releases – instead, the pack has chosen to focus on vibrant oranges and bright pinks and purples for its newer pairs. A peep at the orange colourway came courtesy of rapper Aminé, but now sneaker store Titolo has shared some close-up images of the remaining iterations.

The New Balance 2002R Protection Pack “Pink” arrives in a stunning rosy shade, which sees a mix of pink and purple hues dress the different panels. This starts with a bright magenta base that takes over the toe box, heel and lacing system, while millennial pink and lilac tones decorate the jagged suede overlays. From here, cream accents at the heel and laces add perfect pops of contrast and these match with the cream-coloured sole unit that houses New Balance’s comfy ABZORB and N-ERGY tech.

Staying in line with the theme, the “Purple” Protection Pack 2002R follows suit, only this time a mix of stormy grey, and tinged violet and lilac tones colour the upper. Once again, aged cream details give the pair a vintage look and feel, which really adds to the pair’s rough-and-ready, deconstructed vibe.

While both pairs have dropped at Titolo, a wider release is likely to happen over the weeks to come, so be sure to hit those release reminders if you’re looking to add either 2002R Protection Pack colourway to your collection!
