While not the most popular silhouette of all time, the Nike Air Trainer 1 certainly holds a special place in the heart of many sneakerheads. Designed by Tinker Hatfield and debuted in 1987 as the Swoosh label’s first multi-purpose sports sneaker, the model was set to make somewhat of a resurgence soon as part of a collaborative project with rapper Travis Scott, although that’s now likely to be on hold due to the tragic events at the recent Astroworld festival.
This hasn’t stopped Nike from revisiting the model though, as official images of the upcoming Nike Air Trainer 1 “Coriander” have just been unveiled. Showcasing a neutral-hued colour palette, the pair offers up a utilitarian look that’s ideal for the current outdoor-wear trend, so we’re fairly certain that these will fly off the shelves upon release!
The complex design of the Air Trainer 1 involved panels consisting of nubuck, leather and canvas, with classic features such as the Nike Swoosh logo placed conveniently on both the lateral and medial sides. Other key details include the chunky forefoot buckle that combined with a traditional lacing system keeps these firmly on feet. A yellow midsole conceals Nike Air technology for optimum comfort, rounding off the look for a clean finish.
If you’re liking the look of this reimagined classic you’ll have to hang tight a little longer just yet, as there’s no official release date for this pair. While we know they’ll drop in early 2022, you’ll have to keep it locked here for further updates as they’re unveiled. In the meantime, take a peek at the Air Jordan 3 Retro “Fire Red”, which is also set to return next year!
