At the end of last year, The Sole Supplier reported that a sacai x Nike Cortez was in the works. While many sneakerheads found this a little hard to believe, the Chitose Abe-helmed label just officially revealed it alongside their Pre-Fall Women's and Fall/Winter 2022 Men's collections - and we're now taking our first look yet!
Arriving in two colourways including "White" and "Grey", the first one is obviously inspired by the OG pair that dropped back in 1972. Celebrating fifty years since the silhouette's debut, the former features a smooth nylon construction and buttery suede lacing system in the same shades as the original. The latter, on the other hand, opts for something a little more understated. Pairing together fifty shades of grey, the result is an ultra wearable sneaker that you can rock whatever 'fit you throw at it.
Of course, you can't talk about this coveted collaboration without mentioning all the sacai-isms that can be found throughout the collection. With two tongues and two Nike Swooshes all placed on top of two midsoles, this is deconstruction at its finest. You'll even find an exposed Air bubble at the front of the shoe that's inspired by Air Zoom Tempo NEXT%.
There's no word yet on when the sacai x Nike Cortez collaboration will launch, but they'll definitely release sometime later this year. Let us know which colourway you're feeling the most, and in related news, here's the latest release info for the sacai x Nike VaporWaffle "Off Noir" and "Sail"!
