The Chitose Abe-led Japanese label, sacai, has had a long collaboration history with Nike . This time the duo focuses on the Nike Cortez as the silhouette celebrates its 50th anniversary. Meet the sacai x Nike Cortez Grey.
One of the standout details of the sacai Cortez is the exposed Zoom Air unit in a unique pillbox-style casing seen in a carved-out space at the vamp section of the midsole. The base of the upper is a dark grey fabric complementing the hairy grey suede on the toe cap and the eyestay panel. Abe’s penchant for a “double-everything” theme can be seen on the double Swooshes on both the lateral and medial sides of the shoe, one in white leather and the other a light grey decal design that overlaps on the leather Swoosh. The collar has a stacked-on look as does the heel counter in two shades of grey. The leather heel tab displays co-branding. A complex midsole featuring layers of Sail and grey and a charcoal grey rubber outsole with a herringbone pattern finish off the shoe’s design.
