The Sole Supplier Team's Favourite Sneakers From 2020 - Part 1

Updated 18 Aug 20 4:55PM•Jack Aldrich

2020 has been an incredible year for sneaker releases thus far, even with a global pandemic pretty much grinding the industry to a halt! We’ve seen the total revival of Nike Dunks, which are now one of the most popular sneakers on the market, alongside plenty of high-heat Yeezys and Jordan releases!

Here at The Sole Supplier we’re all avid footwear fanatics as I’m sure you can imagine, so we’ve taken the time out of our days to tell you about our favourite releases this year and exactly why we love them!

What's your shoe of the year and why do you like it?

My favourite shoe of the year so far has got to be the Yeezy QNTM "Barium". I absolutely love the basketball-inspired silhouette but the first release was a bit too clean for my liking. The "Barium" on the other hand infused it with darker tones that work much better with my fits. From the neoprene ankle all the way to the chunky Boost sole, it's the perfect combination of form and function. I'd also like to add that the Foam RNNR is up there with my favourite LPUs this year. The first of its kind, it's partially made from algae and boasts an ultra breathable construction, resulting in what I personally think is the future of footwear.

Did you manage to cop?

I didn't cop on release day but managed to grab a pair close to retail just a few days after.

What's your shoe of the year and why do you like it?

For me it has to be the Travis Scott x Nike SB Dunk Low. I love the use of different materials and the comfort of the Nike SB Dunk. Those combined with a lace-swap into pink laces makes these absolutely pop! The way Nike has bridged the gap between only skaters wearing Nike SB to the general population has been super impressive to me, plus I love all of Travis' collaborative sneakers so these were an instant-cop for me.

Did you manage to cop?

Thankfully, yes! I got lucky with a raffle win on these, and if I hadn't I probably would've paid resell.

What's your shoe of the year and why do you like it?

My pair of the year would have to be the Jordan 1 High Zoom “Racer Blue”. I’m a huge Jordan fan anyway and everyone knows how good 1’s are, so when Nike incorporated Zoom technology into this classic silhouette it was an absolute must-cop for me. The colorway is also super clean and so easy to wear!

Did you manage to cop?

I got lucky and managed to pick a pair up, however I could only grab a size down from my usual Jordan size so unfortunately they're too small to wear. I'm still on the hunt for a pair in the correct size!

What's your shoe of the year and why do you like it?

My favourite shoe of the year so far is the Air Jordan 1 Mid Milan. I’m a sucker for neutral tones and this was the first pair of Jordans (ever!) that made me feel like it was non-negotiable for me to get my hands on them. I love this pair like, so, so much. They look premium, the fabrics and mixture of textures is ultra-unique and the tanned hue is really easy to wear.

Did you manage to cop?

I did manage to get my hands on the AJ1 Milan! I should have gone half a size up because they’re a bit tight, so I only wear them on special occasions. But, hey, I’d rather have tight Milans than none at all.

Ben & Jerry's x Nike SB Dunk Low "Chunky Dunky"
Pedrom Pourkashanian - Head of Acquisition

What's your shoe of the year and why do you like it?

For me it's the Ben & Jerry's x Nike SB "Chunky Dunky" - with it being such a random collaboration between the brands, these things don’t come along too often and when they do you’ve got to be quick to make the most of them as there might not be another opportunity to cop. The marketing of the shoe was on point and the style leaves a lot to be desired but i think this shoe will be looked back on and remembered as a having a big impact, helping bring the resurgence back for the SB Dunk and hyping up a shoe to everyone not just sneakerheads.

Did you manage to cop?

Yes, I managed to get lucky in a raffle! I really tried for this one and entered nearly every raffle going.
