After months of teasing and plenty of rumours, release information for the highly-anticipated Tom Sachs x NikeCraft “General Purpose Shoe” has finally been unveiled. Known for his previous hyped Nike collaborations, Tom Sachs is an American artist and sculptor who has become synonymous with the sneaker community.
Showcasing a stripped-back and rugged look, the General Purpose Sneaker is labelled by Sachs as “an ordinary shoe for ordinary people” - meaning it’s designed to be worn for days on end and not kept pristine in its box.
It offers a low-key look that’s comparable to other subtle Nike silhouettes such as the Killshot or the Waffle One, with Swoosh logos featured on either side in white and blue pull-tabs accentuating the otherwise played-down look. Vintage-style Nike logos are placed on the tongues, while the panelled uppers are crafted from a mix of mesh and suede.
If you’re looking to add these kicks to your rotation, then the good news is that the sneakers will be releasing on the 10th June via NikeCraft, although they’re not likely to be an easy cop.
