We have to admit, when we saw Tom Sachs’ latest NikeCraft venture we’d been hoping for something a little more similar to his iconic Mars Yards, but thanks to this latest colourway, we’re willing to compromise a little. Early images of the Tom Sachs x NikeCraft General Purpose Shoe “Yellow” have now hit the net, and we have to say those off white and red details are bringing back some fond memories, so let’s take a closer look at the pair.
Whilst following the same mixed material make-up and design language as the previous pair, the “Yellow” Tom Sachs General Purpose Shoe takes on a much bolder look. A vibrant yellow hue dresses the majority of the upper, taking over both the canvas base and hairy suede overlays. The tongues, lining and laces all come in a toned-down off white shade, and a bright white Nike Swoosh sweeps across the side panels. Additionally, bright red heel and tongue tabs add extra detail to the pair, calling back to the NikeCraft Mars Yard 2.0.
The NikeCraft General Purpose Shoes are then finished with a tan-coloured midsole, which sits atop a chunky looking, black waffle tread. “General Purpose Shoe” is definitely the right name here - the details add up to create a shoe that looks as if it really was made for anything.
