It’s no secret that Japanese retailed United Arrows and New Balance always produce the cleanest of collabs, so when we heard that they were teaming up for a new take on the recently revived 2002R silhouette we got super hyped. Now, it’s been revealed that the United Arrows x New Balance 2002R “White Pink Blue” will pay homage to a pretty iconic pair, so here’s what to expect from them.
The brands' collaborative efforts actually go way back into the 2000’s, and one pair of 997.5s made waves when they were spotted on the feet of Kanye West back in 2009. This version of the 2002R borrows from the same colour palette that Ye made famous, with whites, pink and blue decorating the pair's uppers.
The 2002R comes constructed from a carefully curated mix of mesh and leather, with a white base giving way to bright pink underlays at the toe box, heel, tongue and midsole. The blue shade can be spotted on the toe cap, liners and sole unit. Elsewhere, the pink and blue shades merge to form a gradient on the classic ‘N’ logo on the sidewalls, whilst UA branding is pretty much non-existent, save for the iconic colourway.
As with their previous collabs, it’s looking like the United Arrows x New Balance 2002R will release exclusively via United Arrows in Japan for now, but be sure to keep it locked in case there is a wider release in the future, as we’ll be the first to let you know if we hear more!
Up next, peep a look at the upcoming New Balance x JJJJound collab.
