Outrageous sneakers have been having a moment over the past few months, and given just how saturated the sneaker scene is right now, it can be hard to cut through the noise. That being said, there’s something special about a solid, low-key sneaker, and that’s exactly what the thisisneverthat x New Balance 550 is shaping up to be.

Arriving in the same simple black and brown make-up that graced JJJJound’s New Balance 990v3, this pair swaps out any leather and suede for a more rugged canvas construction. Keeping things simple, the South Korean brand opts for minimal branding hits, which arrive in the form of embroidered wordmarks on the tongue and heel. New Balance’s N logo then graces the midfoot panel in cracked black leather, adding to the aged look of the pair.
