As we steam further into the final month of the year, it’s only right that different outlets in the sneaker industry are beginning to launch their SOTY (Sneaker of the Year) roundups. Here at The Sole Supplier we’re doing things a little differently this year, so let us introduce you to Toe to Toe: 2022’s SOTY list that breaks the contenders down into quarterly chunks. By looking at the year in three month periods, it’s easy to recognise all of 2022’s key releases, meaning we can look back and remember the pairs that mattered the most.
We’re now knee-deep into our ongoing Toe to Toe series, and so far we’ve seen some absolutely incredible sneakers top the Q1 and Q2 editions. As 2022 went on it’s safe to say that the releases didn’t slow down, with even more incredible kicks launching throughout the autumnal months. Will Jordan Brand continue to reign supreme this time around? Read on to find out the Q3 winners and make sure to keep it locked in right here at The Sole Supplier for all the latest sneaker news and updates.
The relationship between Patta and Nike began all the way back in 2006, and has since remained one of the strongest collaborative partnerships in the sneaker world. Joining forces once again in 2021 to launch a fresh take on the legendary Air Max 1, the duo have dropped multiple colourways since, with the most recent being the Patta x Nike Air Max 1 “White”. Showcasing a stripped-back white colourway, the kicks’ design does all the talking, with grey details helping the pair really pop and stand out from the crowd. With the Air Max 1 currently making a well-deserved comeback, this pair was without a doubt responsible for kickstarting the hype behind the classic silhouette.
Another Air Max model makes an appearance on our Q3 list, although this time around it’s Sergio Lozano’s Nike Air Max 95. Inspired by the human anatomy and modelled on trail-running sneakers, this bold sneaker has long since been a favourite amongst those in the know. Seen here in the “Dark Beetroot” colourway, these kicks offer up a refreshed take on the OG colour palette, swapping out the usual “Neon” tones for burgundy touches. Arguably the most accessible sneakers in our list so far, there’s no denying that this pair is set to become a future classic.
Having already made an appearance in our summer selection, La Flame is back once again, although this time around we’re awarding the Q3 crown to the Travis Scott x Air Jordan 1 Low “Reverse Mocha”. The OG low-top version of the AJ1 is decked out with the Houston-based rapper’s signature reverse Swoosh logo, while other premium details include custom-branded insoles, sail laces and Cactus Jack embroidery on the heel tabs. It’s safe to say that this sneaker stole the show in Q3, with both page views and user sign-ups via The Sole Supplier far surpassing any other possible contenders. It really has been one hell of a year for Jordan Brand in 2022, so join us later on this week to find out the hottest sneakers from Q4!
