17 years ago Yohji Yamamoto and adidas embarked on their collaborative endeavour, fast-forward to 2019 and the pair are still the benchmark on how to fuse high-fashion and sportswear.
For the FW19 collection, Y-3 have delved into the archive and taken inspirational cues from eras that were pivotal for both Yamamoto and the 3-Stripes. The '70s, the '80s, and the '90s feature prominently, with colourways and silhouettes modernised and reinterpreted.
Using Yohji red, Yohji navy and Y-3 icon orange alongside the traditional monochrome palette of black, grey ecru, ink and off-white. These colours are adorned onto pieces featuring heavy Yohji branding as well as the traditional shape over branding pieces that Y-3 are known for.
Launching later in 2019, this is set to be yet another solid season for this long term collaboration.
