adidas Samba Deco SPZL Brown

A cornerstone of adidas archival trainers, renowned designer and archivist Gary Aspden curates his latest adidas Spezial Autumn/Winter ‘23 collection featuring premium apparel and old-school models altered for the contemporary sneaker scene. Like past SPZL offerings, we get a slew of adidas trainers in seasonal colour palettes. Celebrating the era-defining sneaker made by adidas founder Adi Dassler himself, the adidas Samba Deco SPZL “Brown Cloud White” delivers a throwback design language inspired by the ‘70s.

Gary Aspden revisits the adidas Samba years after introducing the Samba Super variant from the early SPZL drops. This reinterpretation of the adidas Samba references the silhouette’s late ‘70s shape, which features a more streamlined look by removing the extra lace hole at the topmost part of the shoe. The upper has a brown suede construction, with a deco stitch on the forefoot inspired by the adidas Baltic, replacing the trainer’s signature T-toe overlay. White sawtooth 3-Stripes and heel tab create a juxtaposition between the dark-based upper and light-coloured panels. “Samba SPZL” branding on the lateral side has a gold foil wrap carrying a premium aesthetic, with a date prined onto the heel collar which references the specific version of the Samba that the Deco SPZL is modeled off. Classic adidas Trefoil labels decorate the tongue, while co-branded adidas SPZL insignia embellishes the heel and sockliner. The iconic low-profile gum rubber outsole completes this autumn-ready colourway.

The Samba Deco "Brown" also arrives with a typical SPZL leather hang-tag, another indication of the collection's considered approach to design. While brown laces come threaded onto the upper, there are a spare set of white laces in box giving you the option to match the lighter accents. Take you regular UK sizing in these to ensure you get a perfect fit!
