JJJJound x adidas Samba OG Black

The Canadian design studio JJJJound is rumoured to be dropping its first collaborative effort with adidas, exploring the timeless elements of the Samba in the process. The founder of the studio, Justin Saunders, has proven time after time that he can choose products with trendy yet timeless design qualities. This rumoured Samba release is another example of JJJJound bringing its unique touch to a silhouette that has already seen a number of collaborations.

The most notable difference on this pair of JJJJound Sambas is the altered heel panel which opts for a larger cut. Looking closely, you can see a debossed beige outline, the most obvious feature that represents the balance between classic vs new. JJJJound plays with the theme again through its spell-out logo and goes to show how even the font gives the design studio a chance to create new with a traditional twist. The inner lining has also been blessed with premium tan leather, reminding you of the shoe’s luxury construction while on foot. Telling a different story, the suede mudguard has been streamlined in order to give the silhouette a sleeker appearance. Rather than your standard release pair, the new tweaks and premium materials give the shoe a high-end feel, similar to the Gazelle’s that came out of the Gucci x adidas collaboration. While we have yet to receive any information on the retail cost, here’s hoping the 3-Stripes spare us of the high-end price point!
