Wales Bonner x adidas Superstar Hi Tan Brown

London-based fashion designer Grace Wales Bonner officially introduces her latest footwear and apparel collaboration with adidas Originals. The campaign showcases two deconstructed colourways of the Superstar Hi, a sequel to the croc-inspired rendition from the previous collection. The Wales Bonner x adidas Superstar Hi “Tan Brown” presents an earth-toned colour scheme and minimalist makeover that takes us right back to the Japan-exclusive days of the mid-2010s.

This iteration flaunts a rich brown suede upper with subtle perforations on the sidewalls resembling the 3-Stripes, a detail often attributed to the Stan Smith. The rubber shell toe stays true to form, nodding to the silhouette’s ‘70s basketball roots. A golden Wales Bonner label decorates the lateral panel, complementing the co-branding on the tongue and sockliner. The heel pull tab adds structure to the thin, flimsy collar, while the flat laces offer a supportive fit. Full-length herringbone treads compose the rubber cupsole for durable traction.
