The 3-Stripes hit the shelves in 2023 with a play on one of its cultural icons, the ZX 8000 “Aqua”. Similar to the ZX 8020 “Light Aqua” that dropped in 2022 and the adidas Consortium edition from 2021, this latest version adds to the long library of the “Aqua” colourway. While not officially announced under the “Aqua” moniker, the ZX 8000 “Sky Tint Cream” edition will likely be considered an aged take on the classic by the adidas crowd.
For the upper, the bright blues and yellows from the infamous colourway have been swapped out for a selection of more muted tones. The pops of yellow are replaced with cream accents, with the light blue midsole now here in pale green. While the previously mentioned Consortium edition from ‘21 darkened the palette, this version looks at a faded set of tones instead. If you left your favourite pair of Aquas chilling on the windowsill for a number of years and let the sun gradually do its thing, then this would most likely be the result. Saying that, we know the adi fanatics out there would never dare do such a thing! Expect all the regular comfort you’d find from the ZX series, as the materials and tooling are mostly kept the same apart from the addition of a leather lining on the inside.
After information about the Gucci x adidas ZX 8000 surfaced, there is no doubt that more eyes will be drawn towards the silhouette than ever before. If you fancy grabbing yourself a ZX 8000 Aqua-inspired pair for retail, then make sure to tune into The Sole Supplier for further updates!
