Often a Japan-exclusive release, the underrated New Balance 1700 becomes the highlight of Ronnie Fieg’s KITH in this brand-new collaborative venture to celebrate the opening of the KITH Toronto flagship store. The New York City-based streetwear and sneaker retailer resumes its long-time partnership with New Balance, following up on the extremely limited NB 998 “Broadacre City” rendition in early 2023. This KITH x New Balance 1700 “Canada Pack White” honours its titular nation in a flag-inspired red and white colour palette constructed in premium materials.
The New Balance 1700 debuted in 1999 as a chunky running trainer equipped with ABZORB, ENCAP and C-CAP cushioning systems to deliver plush, responsive energy return. Formerly part of the premier NB Made in USA offerings, the silhouette returns to the mainstream catalogue thanks to this KITH collab. The shoe has an off white pigskin suede base, complemented by red accents encompassing the tongue, laces, and N logo outlines. A debossed 1700 label adorns the lateral rear, while co-branded New Balance and KITH logos appear on the heel panel. The chunky ENCAP and C-Cap midsole flaunts a sail white tone, with red ABZORB inserts front and back. The gum rubber sole wraps up the design of these Canada-inspired kicks.
