Joe Freshgoods’ latest New Balance collaboration transforms the retro-futuristic NB 2010 into a modern grail that redefines the norms of streetwear. Marking his 11th project with the Boston sportswear giant, the Chicago-based designer describes this new chapter as his mixtape DVD, as he digs deep into his creative bag once more. Headlining this team-up is the Joe Freshgoods x New Balance 2010 “Hand-Me-Downs”, which offers a contemporary twist on the next-gen dad shoe.
This rendition features a blacked-out open mesh upper with dark grey synthetic panels and thick, cosy fabrics on the multicoloured overlays. Dark brown patent leather layers bolster the rear section, seamlessly blending with the predominantly neutral palette. The rubberised “N” covers the lateral and medial sides, complementing the special-edition logo on the insole and the “JFG” initials attached to the removable metal chain. Assorted lace options, which arrive with fuzzy textures and vibrant colours, let you personalise the sneaker. The plush ABZORB midsole and oversized ABZORB SBS pods provide excellent cushioning and energy return. Meanwhile, the rigid Stability Web shank plate ensures arch support for all-day comfort. This pair arrives in an exclusive shoe box inspired by the colourway.
