Joe Freshgoods x New Balance 574 Conversations Amongst Us Sea Salt Silver

Designer and creative director from the West side of Chicago, Joe Freshgoods, partnered up with New Balance to create a collection that focuses on the Black experience. It’s called Conversations Amongst Us and an all-Black product team is behind it. Check out the latest release that falls under this banner, the Joe Freshgoods x New Balance 574 Conversations Amongst Us Sea Salt Silver.

This NB 574 has a yellowed-out vintage aesthetic from the ripstop textile base on the toe box and ankle collar to the canvas tongue. Even the leather overlays are in a not-exactly-white bone-coloured hue. This is in keeping with the designer’s intention for the shoe. “This time we invite colour,” Fresghoods explains. “Lingering positivity and hope. The yellowing of an all-white shoe, that has been muddled, battered, and worn. Standing in resilience and reflection. Still existing with a story to tell. A story everyone should know. Let this collection be a conversation starter, for us. All of us. About it all.” Silver “N” logos stand out on the quarters, outlined in black. A TPU overlay with a sepia patina wraps around the collar. Black text appears on the heel tabs, “Conversations” on the left shoe and “Amongst Us” on the right. The logo’s collection in blue, green, and red can be found on the insoles. A bone and creamy yellow midsole and a black rubber outsole round out the sneaker’s design.
