Stüssy x Nike Air Flight 89 Black White

California-based streetwear powerhouse Stüssy shines the spotlight on the old-school Nike Air Flight 89 in this latest three-pack collaboration with long-time partner Nike. This joint project follows up on recent collaborations featuring archival basketball silhouettes like the Vandal High and Air Max Penny 2. Serving up a trio of premium colourways, this Stüssy x Nike Air Flight 89 “Black White” rendition deviates from the white-based colour schemes of the other styles in the capsule, instead implementing a stealthy ensemble and contrasting design elements.

The Nike Air Flight 89 was a late ‘80s basketball shoe designed by the legend Tinker Hatfield as part of the brand’s Flight series. Overshadowed by the Air Jordan 4, the silhouette eventually had a short-lived run as Nike shifted focus towards newer models. However, the Nike Air Flight 89 has been reissued several times in the past decade, but this time as a lifestyle shoe. The silhouette takes centre stage as Stüssy concludes the year with a three-pack collection. This colourway has a blacked-out leather base, with faux snakeskin overlays on the forefoot shrouded in a dark grey shade. A Stüssy No.4 badge adorns the lateral section, while white Swooshes and laces contrast the stealthy colour palette. Elsewhere, the Air Stüssy and Nike Air branding decorate the tongue and heel, respectively. Contrasting black and white tones form the PU midsole, concealing the visible Air unit in the rear. The all-black rubber outsole caps off the throwback makeover of these late ‘80s kicks.
