Nike Air Max 1 Unlock Your Space White

The Nike Air Max 1 may be the star of Nike’s annual Air Max Day, but that wasn’t always the case. AM1s came out in 1987 as the first Nike shoe with visible Nike Air technology. Designer Tinker Hatfield took design elements from Centre Pompidou to construct the upper of the Air Max 1. It was quite an intriguing debut for the shoe as people never saw “windows” on any shoe before the Air Max 1. Succeeding styles took what worked from the shoe and developed the design. The Air Max 1 paved the way for the likes of the Air Max 90 and Air Max BW.

First thought to be a basketball-inspired pack, the Unlock Your Space now also includes this late-80s running shoe. This colourway comes in a clean white mesh upper with beige leather overlays on the toe. White leather comprises the midfoot overlays. The colourway is filled with unique details; three Swooshes on the medial forefoot come in blue, pink, and yellow. The TPU-covered Swoosh logos on the sides feature black and white swirls. Unlock Your Space stands atop the visible Nike Air bubble. A cut-out heel panel has a Swoosh that exposes a mesh interior. The interior lining transitions from pink to orange while the sockliner boasts that unique insignia seen on all other pairs in the group. A fresh translucent outsole completes this special colourway.
