Nike Air Max 90 GORE-TEX Velvet Brown

Nike is back at it again with another GORE-TEX collaboration. This year the swoosh has tackled it’s rendition of the winterised Air Max 90 ‘Velvet Brown’ with a waterproof upper. Last year we saw the Air Force 1 get its weatherproof make-over so it was only a matter of time before this iconic Air Max had its turn.

The 2022 version of the silhouette remains relatively untouched in terms of the shoes upper unlike the Sneakerboot edition we saw in 2016. Due to the GORE-TEX materials used, the upper has been able to keep its separate-panel design. Details such as tongue branding and the plastic grid in the mudguard have swapped out the usual Nike branding, just to make sure you don’t get this confused with your normal general release pair. Don’t stress though as you’ve still got the “Nike Air” hit on your heel tab.

The predominantly brown leather upper is thrown off by hits of blue, taupe and magenta which give the shoe an ACG quality. Given the waterproof build used on this edition, I think it’s safe to say that the sneaker is set to withstand all the various types of weather that you can throw at it.
