Nike is commemorating the 25th anniversary of the Air Max 97 by teaming up with Hong Kong native Olympic champion Cheung Ka Long, whose 25th birthday is also this year. The Nike Air Max 97 Cheung Ka Long pays homage to the renowned Asian athlete and his historic moment of winning the city's first gold medal after 25 years.
The Beaverton brand stamps Christian Tresser's AM 97 with “Don’t lose your way” text along the visible Air unit — a motto Long writes on all his competition shoes. The colour palette focuses on shades of cream and olive, nodding to the city and mountains of Hong Kong. Further commemorative motifs are added like the metallic gold Swooshes representing the Chinese competitor's gold medals, a topography map of Hong Kong’s highest peak Tai Mo Sha across the see-through outsole, insoles imprinted with the years Ka Long brought home gold medals, plus more.
The Nike Air Max 97 Cheung Ka Long is an absolute collector's piece. Stay locked in The Sole Supplier so you don't miss out on the latest Nike drops.
