Nike’s latest addition to the Air Max family is the Scorpion, a shoe entirely designed and tested during the pandemic thanks to hybrid computer models. The Swoosh allowed the new silhouette to breathe upon its initial 2022 release, with low-key colourways letting people to adjust to the model. Now in 2023, the Air Max Scorpion rubs its hands as it shows us sneakerheads what it’s truly capable of.
The Scorpion is set to join a slew of other classic Nikes for the “Leap High” collection, boasting an eerily similar vibe to that of the “Year of the Rabbit” pack. The white Flyknit chenille upper comes in a furry texture around the eyestay and laces. As is the case for the other shoes featuring the Leap High make-up, the floral detailing camouflages itself within the brushes of the Flyknit construction, giving the shoe a delicate edge. The Swoosh has also been updated and given an ‘in-motion’ appearance as draglines complete the tail end of the logo. Red accents are littered throughout the shoe, clambering into the integral structure of the new air unit that can be seen in a semi-translucent white. A small “Leap High” can be found on the newly designed tongue label and remains the only direct reference to the theme on the upper.
