Nike Jordan Air Ship Every Game Diffused Blue

Professional BMX athlete Nigel Sylvester gave us an early glimpse to what would be his friends & family edition, with this general release pair now hitting the shelves in May. The Queens-native captured the attention of sneakerheads in 2018 with his Air Jordan 1 OG High which arrived with pre-worn and scuffed detailing, way before the aged aesthetic had taken off. Now we’ll have to see what story Sylvester is trying to spin on his next rumoured collaboration.

The Air Ship is the next silhouette of choice for the Jordan Brand athlete, here in the usual white leather tooling that we’ve seen on the general release editions. However, close up images have revealed a nod to the aged aesthetic, with the upper featuring a similar faux-cracked leather that we first saw on the Air Jordan 1 High “Lost & Found”. Along with the aged effect of the leather, the tongue also plays into the motif with a yellow-tinted finish. Drawing inspiration from his Air Jordan 1, a small Mini Swoosh is embroidered onto the front toe in silver, another updated design detail which is a first for the Air Ship.

The Swoosh, ankle and eyestay panels are where Sylvester puts his own contemporary spin on the ‘80s silhouette, with each panel cut from a hairy suede in a UNC-inspired hue. The words “Every Game” are embroidered onto the heel, inspired by the fact that Michael Jordan wore his North Carolina practice shorts under his NBA uniform for good luck, which is one reason why he started wearing longer Bulls shorts in order to cover them up.
