Nike launches the Air Ship, resolving the long-standing mystery surrounding the then-unknown basketball shoe by rookie Michael Jordan. Following the silhouette’s return in the “New Beginnings Pack”, the brand introduces a 1-of-1 reissue of the Nike Jordan Air Ship Pro “Banned”, the infamous colourway that got MJ fined $5,000 by the NBA every time he wore them in a game.
The Air Ship debuted as the precursor to the legendary Jordan 1, laying the blueprint for its design. While Nike saw the ban as an opportunity to market the AJ1 “Bred”, this release revealed the truth regarding the actual “banned” shoe. This iteration flaunts a blacked-out leather upper with bright red hues highlighting the Swoosh, eyestays, and collar. Black and red laces allow you to style your kicks to your preference. Classic brand labels adorn the nylon tongue, heel panel, and sockliner. The crisp white midsole has a React foam cushioning for plush comfort, infusing modern-day technology into the ‘84 basketball shoe. Circular nubs form the rubber outsole to complete its design.
