The Nike Cortez is without a doubt considered royalty in the world of sneakers. Earning its reputation way back in the 70s, the shoe has had a number of cultural moments across the world over the past five decades. From Forrest Gump to LA gang members, to the 2022 collaboration with Union, the Cortez has truly earned a place on the Mount Rushmore of Nike shoes. Arriving in this “Gorge Green” colourway, Nike takes the Cortez back to its vintage running roots.
The cream midsole and off white upper paint the shoe with a vintage brush, a dark green Swoosh drawing on the Oregonian hues that informed the brand. The traditional jagged outsole is here, along with the jagged finish on the eyestay panels. The Swoosh opts for the Nike Futura logo on the tongue and heel tab, foregoing the italicised lowercase font seen on the original pairs and retro from 2015.
A simple colourway on a classic shoe leaves no room for error. Find out where to grab your pair of Nike Cortez Sail Gorge Green by tuning into The Sole Supplier!
