2022 is Going to Be a Big Year for the New Balance 550, Here's What's Coming Up First

Our trend predictions for 2022 see the '80s basketball-turned-lifestyle silhouette, the New Balance 550, rival the likes of Nike's Air Force 1 and Dunk as the go-to everyday sneaker that you'll see every influencer and their dog wear. Yup. Don't say we didn't tell you so!

Having collaborated with the likes of Aimé Leon Dore, size?, AURALEE and Rich Paul, the New Balance 550 is going to be especially big this year, and no doubt they'll be plenty more partnerships on the way. First thing's first, however, the New Balance 550 "Burgundy/Aqua" is making its way into our shoedrobes this new year. Taking a step away from the collegiate-inspired UNC and Syracuse hues that have come before, this positively wintery sneaker looks towards spring thanks to the addition of "Aqua Blue" accents across the large 'N' logo and colourful branding at the top of the tongue.

The midsole on this NB 550 takes on a creamy, off-white tone, giving the iteration that all-important and instantly recognisable vintage feel. Below, a mixture of mocha and burgundy make up the grippy, rubber outsole, whilst perforations are dotted across the mid-panelling matching to the white stitching around the cushioned 'N'. 550 branding sits at the bottom of the lace unit in the pale-blue colouring, corresponding to the branding label at the top of the tongue, and the tongue itself is made from a comfortable and breathable mesh. You couldn't want any more from this sneaker.
