Having caught a very small glimpse of them previously, we can now take a closer look at the two LA Lakers-inspired New Balance 550s that are set to land this summer. Both dressed in purple and gold colour schemes, these NB 550s go back to the sneaker's roots in basketball for inspiration.
Whilst images of the New Balance 550 "White/Vibrant Orange" have been floating around on social media for a while, we can now take an official look at the pair. An orange and gold rubber outsole sits beneath a creamy midsole, which matches up to the leather upper above. Both of these iterations, unlike some of the other 550s, have leather heel and toe caps, rather than the suede we sometimes see. The "Vibrant Orange" colourway sees the white upper dressed with purple branding accents, an orange large 'N' logo and grey panelling at the rear of the shoe.
Inverting the colours of the "Vibrant Orange" pair is the New Balance 550 "White/Infinity Blue". This time around, a grey and indigo outsole makes way for a white, branded midsole. Opposite to the last colourway, gold covers the 550 branding at the bottom of the tongue, whilst the large 'N' logo on the medial and lateral sidewall comes in the titular deep-purple hue complete with gold piping around the outside.
