It’s no secret that Virgil Abloh was one of the busiest men in fashion. Even now, months after his untimely death, we still seem to come across a new Virgil creation every few days. With Nike set to continue to release some of his later work under his wife’s blessing, it’s likely that we’ve still barely scratched the surface of what’s still out there. One of the latest examples, dubbed the Off-White x Nike Air Force 1 “Recycled Grind, ” has since been shared by the late designer’s friend, A$AP Bari, on Instagram. Made up of recycled materials, the sneaker is quite a spectacle – take a look for yourself below!
The Off-White x Nike AF1 “Recycled Grind” looks to be constructed completely from recycled materials, with a grey speckled mix of fabric making up the upper. This extends to the tongue and inner liner, whilst panel and Nike Swoosh detailing are stitched onto the shoe’s sidewalls. The “Recycled” Grind Off-White AF1 also features Virgil’s famed double lace system – a feature seen on a lot of the later pairs. Finally, grey and black speckled sole units bring the pair’s theme to a close.
As it stands, it’s looking like the “Recycled Grind” Off-White x Nike Air Force 1 is only a sample, and therefore not likely to receive a release anytime soon. Regardless, we’re always here for Virgil’s creative takes, and we think this could be one of the most interesting pairs he made.
