First introduced to the market back in 1985, the Air Jordan 1 High is easily one of the most iconic sneakers of all time, seen on the feet of tastemakers around the world. While the kicks were originally intended for performance basketball, they’re now synonymous with elevated style and streetwear, and we’re about to see a brand-new pair hit the market in 2023. Titled the Lucky Green”, or "Celtics" the pair are without a doubt inspired by the Boston Celtics, a team that rivalled the Chicago Bulls back in the ‘90s, when Michael Jordan was at his peak performance. All the usual AJ1 features are prevalent here, including Swoosh logos, wings motifs and padded collars, while the green, white and black colour scheme easily lends itself to the retro silhouette.
Now, the colour green hasn't graced Jordans too often (Jordan apparently isn't a fan of having the colour on his sneakers) but it seems to be a palette Jordan Brand is exploring this year, having dropped both the AJ3 "Lucky Green" and the "Pine Green" Nike SB x AJ4 already this year. The last time we saw a "Lucky Green" AJ1 was through a women's-exclusive release in 2020, but the colourway hasn't been seen on the men's version since 2018, when Jordan dropped the "Pine Green" colourway. Despite Jordan's apparent aversion to the palette, we can't help but feel like the infrequent releases of the colourway make this pair even more special, and something a little different to many of the Jordan releases we've seen over the past few years. If you're looking to get your hands on a pair of the "Lucky Green" Jordan 1s on the 15th of April, then read on to find out exactly how you can cop them...
The Air Jordan 1 High OG "Lucky Green" is expected to drop at a number of UK retailers on the 15th of April, but as it stands, only Offspring has confirmed that they will drop on a first-come-first-served online basis. For those that are unaware, these Offspring drops tend to happen at midnight, so you might want to get a coffee down you later this evening. As the product drops, you'll be subject to the normal queue process - but stay patient and your luck might just pay off.
A couple of UK-based retailers will also be dropping pairs via a raffle system, so if you feel as if the sneaker gods will be in your favour, this is a good way to avoid sitting around waiting for a midnight drop. As it stands, both Sneakersnstuff and END. Clothing have raffles live for the "Lucky Green" AJ1. These will be closing tomorrow at 8am, but we'd recommend getting your entry in ASAP for that extra piece of mind.
Finally, the Air Jordan 1 High OG "Lucky Green" will see a SNKRS release on the 15th of April. By now, you probably know the drill here, but if you're a SNKRS newbie you'll want to listen up. Make sure you've downloaded Nike's SNKRS app, and then head over to the upcoming tab, and scroll until you see the shoes. If you'd like to set a reminder ahead of the drop tomorrow, you can do this today.
On the day of the drop, you'll have a short window of time to get your entry in. This will open at 8am. Here, you'll be able to enter the raffle in order to purchase a pair. We recommend having your payment details already saved to your Nike account to avoid any unnecessary stress in the morning. If you're successful, you'll get that highly anticipated "GOT 'EM" message - make sure you tag us in these if you upload to Instagram, as we'd love to celebrate your W with you!
Finally, if you're unsuccessful when it comes to copping for retail (we've all been there) then you will probably be able to pick up a pair for a little extra money on the resale market. We're expecting to see some land on our very own Sole Market very soon, so you'll be able secure a 100% authentic and deadstock pair there if needs be.
So, there you have it. This guide will give you the best chance of copping the Air Jordan 1 High OG "Lucky Green" - but remember that things can quickly change, and that more chances may come up! With that in mind, be sure to set your release reminders on our app and stay locked to The Sole Supplier's social channels on the drop day, as we'll be posting all the latest info as it comes in. Good luck!
