The Ultimate Crep Protect Review - Does It Work?

Crep Protect have been the world's leading premium sneaker care brand since it was established in 2012. Founded by brothers Rizwan, Imran, and Nohman Ahmed, in the ten years that they've been around they've built a pretty big name for themselves. Not only are they officially partnered up with adidas and JD Sports, their brand ambassadors include massive names like DJ Khaled, who regularly flexes the latest Crep Protect products to his 27.3 million followers on Instagram.

Over the past few years, The Sole Supplier have tried out a bunch of sneaker cleaning products and we know a thing or two about them. With that said, for the first time ever we'll be conducting an in-depth review into Crep Protect's flagship shoe cleaning items, including the Crep Protect Spray, Crep Protect Wipes, Crep Protect Pill, and Crep Protect Mark On Pen. The Crep Protect Spray is, without a doubt, Crep Protect's best-selling product. A super-hydrophobic spray that creates an invisible shield around your favourite trainers, this coating repels most liquids and in turn will prevent stains. If dirt does get on your shoes, all you need to do it wipe it off and you're good to go. Unlike some competitors, the CP Spray doesn't change the colour of your sneakers. If you're rocking a pair with a mesh-based upper like the Air VaporMax, it won't block any of the perforations either so they'll still remain ultra breathable no matter what.

To use the Crep Protect Spray, spray from a distance of around 20cm and apply it evenly across the entire sneaker. It's important that you don't completely drench your pair with the spray as it's not necessary and will just be a waste. This products work on a wide range of materials including canvas, nubuck, and suede, so you can create a clear barrier around your favourite Yeezys. It also works with leather, but leather is already naturally waterproof so the effect is not as noticeable.

We tried it on a collection of different silhouettes and we can confirm that it definitely works! Whether it's high heat Air Jordan 1s or Dunks, the Crep Protect Spray certainly does the job. One thing that we noticed though is that one application will only last up to four weeks so you need to make sure you re-spray your trainers after one month. This can be pretty pricey if you have a massive collection. In fact, according to the company themselves each 200ml will work for up to twelve shoes, so make sure if you're going to get some that you get enough.

For those unexpected marks and scuffs, the Crep Protect Wipes are your go-to solution to tackle them while you're on the move. Coming in a compact box, this is perfect for when you're travelling and you don't want to bring your entire CP range with you. Each pack comes with twelve wipes too so whether you're rocking the latest Air Jordan 3 collab or have a pair of NMDs with you, you're covered from all angles.

Unlike many rival products, Crep Protect Wipes aren't just fancy baby wipes. Infused with CP's own Cure formula, one side of the sheet is rough for getting rid of those tough stains, while the other side features a smooth finish to wipe them off. Each one is fragranced with a cotton fresh scent so your trainers are left looking good and smelling great.

The Crep Protect Wipes definitely work - but to a degree. We tried cleaning a pair of Triple S that was covered in stubborn stains. Because of the materials the CP Wipes didn't work too well. In fact, the brand warns that if the stain is too deep this can effect the material. With that said, we also tried them on an Air Force 1 and they worked impeccably, so it really depends on the material that you're thinking of cleaning.

Do your sneakers smell? If so, the Crep Protect Pill might be the thing for you. We all have this issue and it's not something to be embarrassed about. Whether it's a classic like the Superstar or a new chunky model from Gucci, these little pills will apparently absorb any moisture and actively remove bad smells, replacing them with a fresh cotton fragrance.

The Crep Protect Pill has got to be one of the easiest-to-use cleaning products on the market right now. Each pack comes with two pills so you place one in each shoe. The capsules contain nShield properties which make work of odours by attacking any bacteria. Zeolite particles will absorb moisture, while the light fragrance is the closest thing to that new crep smell that we all know and love.

Luckily, no one in The Sole Supplier team had a pair of shoes smelly enough that we had to use these. With that said, we placed a pair into a pair of well-worn Zoom Flys and another into some Air Jordan 4s and both ended up smelling pretty boxfresh. Even if your sneakers don't stink we'd recommend getting these just for the scent itself.

You ever get those annoying little marks on your trainers and you just want a convenient way to get rid of them? That's what the Crep Protect Mark On Pen is for. With a 4mm bullet tip, this allows pin point precision when restoring tired soles. So whether you're looking to give your Air Max 1s a fresh revamp or the midsole on your 450 is looking a little worse-for-wear, this is the product for you.

Using the CP Mark On Pen is as easy as it gets. Specially designed for a wide range of materials, not only can you restore the white look of your midsoles, a lot of sneakerheads have been using it to create custom designs on darker soles. All you need to do is apply two coats and leave it to dry for fifteen minutes and you're good to go.

We tried the Crep Protect Mark On Pen on a pair of Ozweegos where the adiPRENE midsole was yellowing severely and it worked an absolute treat. It's worth noting though that some sneakers might feature a slightly off-white midsole for a vintage vibe. The Pen is filled with very white ink so using this might tarnish the retro aesthetic.
