Back in January, WWD reported that Virgil Abloh had designed over fifty Louis Vuitton x Nike Air Force 1 colourways before his untimely passing in November. While early reports suggested that all of these will be available for retail purchase, we're now being told that you'll only be able to buy 9 of these pairs - providing you're lucky enough to cop in the first place.
The highlight of this Louis Vuitton range has got to be "Triple White" and "Triple Black" options that are extremely versatile. These are finely debossed with LV's iconic monogram across the leather uppers, and are also available in mid top forms. Speaking of which, a "Damier Azur" Mid will also be around to pick-up, and it boasts Louis Vuitton graffiti on the lateral sides of both shoes. This certainly isn't everyone's cup of tea, but it cements the idea that high fashion and streetwear have officially joined together in matrimony.
Three of the most exciting colourways will also be up for grabs to the public, namely the "Red White", "Green White", and "Blue White". Featuring two-tone colourblocking and "AIR" branding along the midsole, these really remind us of Abloh's Off-White x Nike Air Force 1.
Of course, we can't talk about LV's take on the Air Force 1 without mentioning the "Metallic Silver" and the "Metallic Gold". While the former boasts a multicolour palette that's giving us serious vintage vibes, the latter arrives in a C-3PO-esque look that's gold, gold, and nothing but gold. This is curiously paired with an earthy brown midsole, finalising the design.
All pairs come with co-branded tags on the tongue, and "LACET" text printed on the laces, harkening back to Virgil's Off-White imprint. They also come packed in special edition shoeboxes that are definitely made for the collectors out there.
While these are indeed the Louis Vuitton x Nike Air Force 1s that will be available to the public, actually securing them for retail will be a different question altogether. For your best chance to cop, get in contact with an LV salesperson right now, and if you're lucky enough to get through to them, prepare to pay some top dollar for your size.
