While the Nike Air Force 1 was originally made for the basketball court, it certainly wouldn't be the icon it is today without its adoption into hip-hop culture. During the '90s, the line between these two worlds was blurring and they started borrowing elements from each another. To celebrate this matrimony as well as the AF1's momentous 40th anniversary, the Nike Air Force 1 "Bronx Origins" has been unveiled - and here's everything that we know so far!
From a distance, the "Bronx Origins" may look like the classic "Triple White" colourway, but upon closer inspection you'll find that there is way more than meets the eye. With a premium leather construction that's dipped in an all-white hue, a stealthy black Swoosh shoots across the lateral and medial side panels complete with a carbon fibre effect. Metallic gold deubrés reference "1973" and "1982" as a nod to hip-hop's inception and the Force's debut, and "Anniversary Edition" script is finely stitched onto the tongues.
"Air Force One" is debossed around the back in a gothic font, and underneath the Nike Air midsole, the outsole is decorated with "BRONX ORIGINS", finalising the design.
Not much else is known about the Nike Air Force 1 Low "Bronx Origins" at this moment in time, but if you want to find out more about the silhouette's history, check out our article on how the Nike Air Force 1 became the sneaker of New York City. Let us know if you'll be going for these, and while you're here, you might as well take your first look at the Civilist x Nike Air Force 1!
