Japanese label COMME des GARÇONS are no strangers to Nike collabs, and can often be expected to put their own high-fashion twists on fan-fave silhouettes. Having recently worked on a pair of Nike Air Foamposite 1s and some (now infamous) heeled football boots, Rei Kawakubo’s brand have just revealed two new Air Max 97s during the COMMES des GARÇONS Homme Plus AW22 Runway Show, and they’re some of their most wearable pairs yet.
Previewed on the runway, it’s unclear exactly what these two new CDG x AM97s are made from right now, but they do appear to stay true to the classic styling of Christian Tresser’s shoe. Appearing in two colourways - Comme des Garcons x Nike Air Max 97 Black and Comme des Garcons x Nike Air Max 97 Grey - a slightly distressed, acid-wash look lends itself to the avant-garde vibes we’re used to seeing from CDG.
The pair come finished with rope laces and Nike branding - there’s no sign of anything CDG yet, but as with all sample pairs, this remains subject to change.
Thanks to their design pedigree and cult fanbase, COMME des GARÇONS collabs are always highly sought after and remain a huge hit with sneakerheads and collectors alike.
