We first saw images of the Concepts x Nike Air Max 1 “Friday” back in January, when it was unveiled as part of the wider “Mellow” collection, and now it seems that we’re edging closer to a release date. As part of the 35th anniversary celebrations for the AM1, these pairs are special-edition and are absolutely littered with premium features that the collectors amongst us are already eyeing up.
When asked about the collaboration, Deon Point (Concepts Creative Director) stated “Nike has been a tremendous partner to Concepts. Together, our collaborative track record speaks for itself, and we decided to work on the Air Max 1, a personal favourite. We wanted to fully honour the irreverent spirit of Nike from its origins in the ‘60s up to today.”
The sneaker itself digs into the culture and style of the late 1960s, and more specifically the music festivals in that era. Think peace signs, M65 parkas and flower power. The sneakers are decked-out with plenty of limited-edition add-ons including a guitar pick shaped hang-tag, extra laces, special-edition packaging and even flower-shaped Swoosh logos. Rounded off with a speckled midsole, these are most definitely the most interesting AM1s we’ve seen in a long time!
If you’re looking to pick up the Concepts x Nike AM1 “Friday” from the Mellow Pack, then they’re set to launch exclusively via Concepts on the 5th March, with a wider global release at select retailers expected to be announced soon. Make sure to keep it locked right here at The Sole Supplier for all the latest and while you’re here, check out the Nike Air Max 1 PRM “Wabi-Sabi”!
