Following in the footsteps of the 327 and 550, New Balance's latest lifestyle offering comes in the form of the ultra-modern New Balance CT302. Inspired by the look of a classic tennis sneaker, and elevated to new heights to suit the platformed, oversized styles of today, the New Balance CT302 adds a little something different to your rotation, that keeps in mind the sporty silhouette that remains easy to style and comfortable to wear even now.
Inspired by the CT300 from the '80s, a silhouette which has been reimagined by Comme des Garçons in more recent times, the CT302 doubles the midsole - hence the '2' - and exaggerates it further out than the body. Like what you'd see on the 574, the CT302 offers up a large 'N' logo on the medial and lateral sidewalls; a feature first used by New Balance in the 1970s.
For their next pack, the Boston-based brand is taking a more moody approach, and decorating this new silhouette with darker, dirtier tones compared with what we've seen before. Previously, iterations have revolved around the traditional white tennis sneaker look, but now, the "Calm Taupe" and "Bone Beige" colourways offer something different.
Both iterations are constructed with a mixed suede and mesh upper, whilst the fronts of the sneakers are inspired by ProCourt design. More subtly than the 550, branding is present on the midsole, of which on both colourways comes in a beige hue. The "Calm Taupe" looks less colourful across the rest of the upper, with black hiding the branding. Although, a light-brown tone stands out at the top of the tongue, matching to the rest of the lace unit.
"Bone Beige" looks more set for sunny days. A light sand covers the upper, melting into the tones used on the rest of the sneaker nicely.
