To think that Tom Sachs' last Swoosh collaboration was over two years ago is absolutely insane. Back in 2019, the New York-based contemporary artist released the infamous Overshoe, and while he did send out Mars Yard 2.5 tester kits to a few lucky individuals in 2020, he hasn't launched an official sneaker for almost three years. As fans of his work impatiently wait for his next drop, we're now taking our first ever look at the Tom Sachs x NikeCraft "General Purpose Shoe" - and here's everything that we know so far!
Based off the Killshot silhouette, the General Purpose Shoe is rumoured to be the NYC creative's next collab with the Beaverton brand. Made for everyday wear, it boasts a multi-panelled construction that's crafted from a vast range of materials. Light cream ballistic mesh makes up the majority of the sneaker while leather embraces the heel and mudguards. A generous amount of taping also features for a technical fit and finish.
A two-dimensional white Nike Swoosh shoots across the lateral and medial side panels, and just like the Mars Yard the inner tongue is adorned with a custom tag complete with Sachs' signature. Gum rubber coats the midsole underfoot while a bold blue pull tab finalises the clean cut design.
Expected to drop later this year, the Tom Sachs x NikeCraft General Purpose Shoe is going to be one of the biggest drops of the year! Make sure you keep it locked at The Sole Supplier for your best chance to cop, and in related news, this Travis Scott x Nike Air Trainer 1 is apparently inspired by the Houston Oilers!
