Is this the year of the green sneaker? It’s certainly starting to look like it. Hot off the back of a slew of green-tinged Jordan releases, Nike is finally set to drop its collaborative “Pine Green” Off-White x Nike Air Force 1 Mid, arriving towards the end of April.
Having surfaced over a year ago, it seems that the world is now ready for the bright green shoe, with both the colour palette and the model’s chunky build having ample opportunity for test runs over the past few months. However, there’s a deeper meaning to the choice of shade, as the colour pays homage to the 1-95 Corridor, which helped shape the Air Force 1 as we know it. Built from leather, the shoe sees smooth uppers come dressed in the leafy hue, while bright white detailing in the form of the Nike Swoosh and branding hits adds a shot of stark contrast.
Of course, it wouldn’t be an Off-White sneaker without some of Virgil Abloh’s signature touches, and these can be seen in all the usual spots. The Helvetica-styled wordmark is stamped on the medial side, and the iconic zip-tie tag graces the lacing system. Underfoot, the sole unit follows suit from previous Off-White AF1 Mid releases, with spiked detailing at the forefoot and a warped Air unit adding extra points of interest.
The pairs are expected to drop at SNKRS on the 28th of April, so be sure to hit those release reminders nice and early if you’re looking to add them to your collection.
Up next, the Air Jordan 5 "Burgundy" could be making a comeback.
