Nike Dunk Sizing: How Do They Fit?

Understandable questions if you’re looking to cop your first pair of Nike Dunks or Nike SB Dunks online, because who really wants the faff of having them arrive too small then inevitably having to send them back? While both Dunks have seen a surge in popularity in recent times, the SB Dunk, in particular, has delivered some of the most coveted colourways. Crafted by Nike's signature skateboarding division, SB, the SB Dunk has a number of different features when compared to its counterpart.

While it's likely not comparable to Nike's Air Max series, the Dunk is perfectly comfortable for day-to-day wear as long as you're not trekking long distances. For your standard daily fit, you won't have any issues wearing the Dunk out and about.

Seeing as Dunks come in an array of materials, there will be some minor differences in comfort depending on what yours are made from. For instance, leather versions might feel a bit more rigid at first, but over time, they will soften and mould to the shape of your foot.

As we've mentioned previously in this article, the SB Dunk does boast better comfort when compared to its regular counterpart. This is thanks to its robust construction, a Zoom Air pod at the heel, and Poron foam underfoot.

When it comes to Dunk styling, you truly have your pick of possible style pairings. One word of advice - to get the best leg wear pairings possible, you have to consider the profile differences between the Dunk and SB Dunk.

For example, due to its slender silhouette, the regular Dunk will pair well with slimmer-fitted trousers and tapers. That's not to say you can't wear them with baggy pants, because you definitely can. We just wouldn't recommend pairing the bulkier SB Dunk with skinnier styles, as this will accentuate the proportions of your feet.

Given the success of the Dunk in recent years, the whos-who of the celebrity world has been spotted wearing them. From Travis Scott (who actually produced his own SB Dunk back in 2020) to Khloé Kardashian, just about everyone has a pair of Dunks in their arsenal.

Truth be told, you can't actually go down a city street these days without seeing a pair of the ever-popular Panda Dunks, so if you happen to be looking for inspiration, our best advice would be to just look around you!

Initially released in 1985, the now-iconic Nike Dunk was originally designed for the basketball court but was quickly adopted by skateboarders who applauded it for its grip, durability and niche design. By 2002, the Dunk silhouette was re-designed specifically for skateboarding and so the Nike SB Dunk was born. Fitted with a larger, padded tongue that protected skaters’ bones, a Nike Zoom airbag was built into the sockliner for extra padding and protection.

Now a favourite in the collections of sneakerheads, A-listers and professional skaters alike, the Nike Dunk has secured a place in the sneaker hall of fame thanks to its urban design and exclusive technology.
