It's now been two years since we saw military-infused Japanese label WTAPS collaborate with New Balance, and finally, the duo are back. Having previously tackled the 990v2 and 992WT silhouettes, the pair are now looking to add a signature WTAPS twist to the revered 990v6.
Despite the popularity of the 990v6, WTAPS is now the only second collaborative partner for the shoe, following Action Bronson's "Baklava" and "Lapis Lazuli" colourways earlier this year. Certainly more subtle in its ways, the WTAPS 990v6 opts for a bare-bones approach, pairing shades of grey together in unison.
Atop a tri-coloured ENCAP midsole complete with FuelCell cushioning technology, we see a quality mix of suede, mesh, and synthetic materials. At the heel, a reflective silver panel flaunts a "USA" imprint, aligning with WTAPS' knack for military-inspired fashion. In addition, the point of each heel showcases small WTAPS branding in a white tint.
For those looking to get their hands on this model, it's expected to launch in Japan on Friday, the 25th of August. Information regarding a global drop isn't available yet, so make sure to keep it locked in right here for all the latest. In other footwear news, the Chris Paul x Air Jordan 1 OG "Give Them Flowers" doesn't skimp on the details.
