Thebe Magugu x adidas NMD R1 Black

Contemporary South African fashion brand named after its founder, the Johannesburg-based fashion designer, Thebe Magugu, has just teamed up with adidas to work on the latter’s casual sneaker with a retro running shoe aesthetic. Presenting the Thebe Magugu x adidas NMD R1 Black.

This NMD R1 has a simple “Core Black / Almost Yellow / Power Red” colour scheme. The upper, which is made out of at least 50% recycled content, has a textured knit finish in Core Black. This makes the embroidered white bird-of-paradise on the lateral toe area stand out. Representing a future vision of unbridled joy and freedom, the bird-of-paradise motif appears again as a printed graphic on the Power Red lateral midsole accent. Almost Yellow comes in the form of the extra-long heel pull tab. Thebe Magugu branding in black replaces the standard Trefoil branding on the tongue tab. A white boulder-like Boost-enhanced midsole and a black rubber outsole cap off the design of this sneaker.
