adidas launches another City Series classic in 2023, reviving the ‘70s legend once again. With its deep blue suede upper imprinted into the minds of OG adidas collectors, the original made Romania, Yugoslavia and West Germany pairs have become increasingly harder to find. Approaching almost half a century since it first released in 1976, the first edition Dublin has also become more fragile. This 2023 pair is a happy alternative for any adi-head who’s either still on the hunt or hesitant to don their older pairs.

While we’ve seen the Dublin return on a number occasions such as in 2001, 2008 and size?’s 2010 version, this year is one of the closest recreations yet. The 3-Stripes have paid close attention in trying to perfect the colours of the upper, toning down the shade of orange stripes that were too bright on the ‘01 and ‘08 pairs. The suede tongue is also back, unlike the ‘01 version that featured the dimples like the rest of that year’s City Series, or even the all-leather tooling on the size? edition. As a final touch, adidas has reissued the classic gold foil lettering on the sidewall, a beautiful detail that has all but faded with time on the made in Yugoslavia pairs from the late ‘70s. Rounding off the package is the dark gum sole underfoot, a feature that once provided added grip but now completes the traditional aesthetic.
