Australian fashion retailer Up There Store reunites with ASICS Sportstyle for its fourth collaborative sneaker project. Debuting in Autumn ‘25, the Up There x ASICS Gel-Kayano 12.1 “Grey Green” embodies the concept of Natsukashii, a Japanese word meaning “fond reflection” and “happy nostalgia”. This approach resonates with the hybrid runner’s retro-inspired design, which forms a contemporary makeover.
This earth-toned Gel-Kayano 12.1 features a muted grey mesh upper derived from the Gel-Kayano 20, while the textured lining originates from the Gel-Kinsei 4. The glossy green synthetic overlays embrace the silhouette’s Y2K influence, offset by the vibrant red accent and reflective details. Signature Tiger Stripes bolster the sidewalls, complementing the co-branding on the sockliner and logos on the tongue, rear, and lateral foxing. Borrowed from the Gel-Nimbus 17, the dark midsole utilises FluidRide foam atop the thick GEL inserts in the forefoot and heel for maximum cushioning and energy return. The multicoloured outsole displays a bright green Guidance Line between the red and black rubber sections. This iteration arrives in a green co-branded box and includes extra laces for additional styling options.
