Kicki Yang Zhang x ASICS GEL-NYC Pink Pure Silver

Berlin artist Kicki Yang Zhang brings her unique vision to the ASICS GEL-NYC with a two-shoe capsule. This “Pink Pure Silver” being the more feminine out of the two colourways is also inspired by traditional Chinese Gou Hou paintings, a part of Zhang’s rich cultural background. A vast portfolio including the likes of her viral face painting has earnt the German artist a large following, with many eager to support this collaboration between @kickiyangz and ASICS.

The familiar GEL-NYC silhouette is decorated with a light palette, a cream mesh complemented by pops of pink and silver. The logo across the sidewall looks almost hand-painted on as a nod to the Gou Hou style mentioned earlier. Turning your eye to midsole reveals the GEL technology painted in a dark glittery pink, a detail that follows suit alongside the cutesy graphic on the sock liner. If you were a fan of the Hysteric Glamour collaboration, then this project offers a similar feel albeit at a lower price point.
