Before adorning the new "R" title, the New Balance 1906 debuted with a full-length gel sole tooling. However, the latest 1906R iteration features a more modern take with an ABZORB SBS heel cushioning and N-ergy outsole unit borrowed from the New Balance 2002R.

In terms of colour arrangement, this pair sees a Castlerock theme with a prominent beige nubuck base and navy-tinged counterparts such as the OG N-lock lacing system and the "N" logos midfoot. Completing the pair is standard New Balance branding details, a supportive TPU heel cage, and a comfort midsole underfoot.
