The Nike Air Wildwood ACG Midnight Navy Purple is an amazing shoe with an equally as amazing back story. While this particular colourway is new for 2019, the silhouette actually made its debut thirty years ago back in 1989, and you can still see the retro design playing a huge role even today!
While it may not be absolutely obvious at first, the Air Wildwood ACG Midnight Navy Purple is actually the direct descendant 1982’s Air Escape. An off-road trainer that’s become more of a lifestyle sneaker, it features a full leather construction that is smooth to the tongue. Perforations make their way to the toe box and side panels, while striking purple accents make their way to the lateral and medial heel as well as the Swoosh logo.
“ACG” branding graces the tongue, while an Air midsole features down below, lined with a rubber sawtooth waffle sole that goes back to its off-road roots. “Nike Air” branding is then embellished on the heel and insole, completing the vintage aesthetic.
