Nike Air Force 1 High Utility 2.0 Leap High

The “Year of the Rabbit” pack that’s set to drop in 2023 looks promising thanks to its varied mix of silhouettes that have been given a mammal-based make-up. Even the aggressive appearance of the Air Force 1 High Utility has been subdued thanks to a combination of faux rabbit fur and tail. While we’d like to claim that this is the first sneaker with the addition of an animal’s tail, I’m afraid Jeremy Scott already did that 10 years ago on his “Leopard” adidas.

The Air Force 1 High Utility starts off strong with a speckled gum sole, and a heavy tread below ensuring you don’t get caught slipping. Above, supple brown leather is used for the tip, lace panelling and sidewall, contrasted by a hairy suede. A faux rabbit fur hops onto the Swoosh as it does on other editions from the “Year of the Rabbit” pack, but surprisingly is not the biggest giveaway behind the animal-based inspiration. The buckle we expect to find on the Utility version of the Air Force 1 is here, albeit in a friendly, tonal pink suede. The hits of red and green make their way onto to this “Leap High” colourway, thanks to the symbolic significance of the colours within Chinese New Year culture. As previously mentioned, the bunny tail on the heel of the shoe is the most obvious reference to the fluffy animal, taming a silhouette that was designed for rough terrain and altering its fan base.
