Nike celebrates 50 years of hip-hop culture with another Nike Air Force 1 Low “Bronx Origins” colourway, following up on the “White” rendition from 2022. As a sneaker icon that transcended beyond basketball courts, the AF1 pays homage to the New York-born pop music genre that helped shape the shoe and skyrocket into stardom throughout the ‘80s and ‘90s, and even get a rap song by American rapper Nelly in ‘02! This “Bronx Origins Black” iteration resumes the celebration with its street-ready style packed with special-edition features.

The Bronx gave birth to hip-hop in 1973, and the subculture’s influence stretched out into many different facets, playing a pivotal role in changing the way people view sneakers and streetwear in the fashion space. The quarter panels incorporate durable canvas fabrics decorated with subtle Swoosh patterns, which serve as a backdrop for the vibrant, near-iridescent gold Swooshes on the sides. Luxe gold treatment also extends towards the stylised “AF1” branding on the heel and the classic Air Force 1 label on the tongue. Meanwhile, a vinyl record inscribed with “NYC 50” renders extra details, complementing the “Golden Anniversary” phrase on the sockliners. The crisp white midsole and milky white translucent outsole complete this revolutionary sneaker’s commemorative design.
