Be the first to know about this upcoming sneaker collaboration between London clothing brand Second Best and sportswear powerhouse PUMA. Celebrate the PUMA Clyde’s 50th anniversary in this Second Best x PUMA Clyde “Red Black” rendition.
The PUMA Clyde is the first ever signature basketball shoe, given to NBA legend and fashion icon Walt “Clyde” Frazier. It was a pivotal move in the basketball footwear scene, as brands eventually followed and searched for the next big athlete. The PUMA Clyde was primarily made of suede, a far cry from the usual leather upper on basketball shoes. This shoe was based on the iconic PUMA Suede, a basketball shoe from 1968. Both models look similar but with slight differences in shape and width.
This collaboration between Samuel Monaghan’s Second Best and PUMA hopes to put the spotlight on the former. Only formed in 2017, Second Best brings graphics-heavy aesthetics across its apparel collections. This colourway features a black and red suede combination with sail white PUMA Formstrip logos on the sides. Second Best’s dancing demons logo adorns the sides and the tongue. Inverted crosses comprise the heel panel. The white rubber sole finishes the clean makeover of this PUMA Clyde.
