Well, this one's a bit of an odd release for this time of the year. The Nike KD 17 "Slim Reaper" might not be an official release for the spooky season, but it sure does have all the DNA to be considered one. Looking at the retailer photos, we can see a sneaker that lives up to its name.
Kevin Durant, a future Hall of Famer and a guy gunning for a spot in the all time top 10, has collected a trophy case of nicknames over the years. Durant once tried to ghost "The Slim Reaper" (despite it being objectively awesome) in favour of the far less spooky "The Servant." Thankfully, he’s since seen the light, or in this case, the shadow. Enter the Nike KD 17 “Slim Reaper,” the ultimate mic drop in nickname debates.
Building on the horror inspired theme of the KD 16, known for its blood red accents, the KD 17 takes a more conceptual approach to the nickname. Featuring a striking orange and black palette, the shoe unmistakably nods to Halloween. However, despite its eerie undertones, the colourway shifts to a brighter, more vibrant aesthetic, aligning with its Spring 2025 release window.
The design features a subtle gradient, transitioning from light orange at the forefoot to a deeper hue at the heel. This effect not only echoes the Air Max Plus inspired elements of the silhouette but also complements the Phoenix Suns’ twilight themed jerseys, making it a perfect fit for both on court action and team pride.
The Nike KD 17 “Slim Reaper” is set to hit shelves and Nike.com on 1st February. Stay tuned to The Sole Supplier for all the details.
